Kompany Family Theatre is the performing company of Kompany Theatre Artists Society, a registered not-for-profit society in Alberta and official Canadian Charitable Organization operating in and around Edmonton. We hire professional theatre artists and welcome volunteers and supporters in our quest to create and bring quality theatre to young audiences and families.
A strong history of promoting the arts in Alberta
Kompany Dance and Affiliated Artists Society was created in 1979 by Darold Roles and Ron Schuster as a performance company dedicated to dance and musical theatre. After nearly 30 successful years promoting dance and musical theatre in Alberta, the future of Kompany was passed to current Artistic Director Jan Taylor.
About Us
Creating theatre for
younger audiences
In 2007, Artistic Director Jan Taylor, building on the strong foundation of K.D.A.A.S., transitioned the company to Kompany Family Theatre, focusing on a new mandate: to produce quality theatre for young audiences and families, as well as the creation and development of new works.

Kompany fulfills this mandate by offering the following: playwriting competitions, productions, events and performances for children and families, commissioned works, training workshops, and school tours.

The recent need for distancing and online delivery has encouraged Kompany to dip our toes into new and exciting virtual, digital, video and other media, adapting our shows to further reach young audiences who may not otherwise have access.
